First Impressions

Our first day at Rehema Home was exhilerating and a little tiring, mostly from the jet lag. After the months of preparation that has brought us to Nairobi and Rehema Home it was a joy to see the lives that we will impact and get to know everyone involved with Rehema Home.

Our day began with an excedllent breakfastk prepared by Frita, Lucy, and Samuel at the guest house while we waited for Mark and Michelle Tewksbury and Lance Teitsworth. Before we headed out to the house everyone that had been to Rehema before made sure that we were orientated to the program. During the program one thing that stuck out to me was the great love for the kids at Rehema Home, which was reinforced when we got to the Home. After the orientation and getting all of our things together Michelle led us on the two mile walk to Rehema Home.

Though everyone had been getting excited with nervous evergy as we got closer to Rehema Home, going through the gate brought the reality of our trip and mission into focus. The kids were excited to us quickly become familiar enough to play with our hair, climb all over us, or ask every imaginable question. We were given a tour of the house and started preparations to get working by the afternoon. Most of the rest of the day was consumed with playing with the kids and getting to know the Home. For dinner we had a tuna noodle casserole prepared by the M&Ms.
